Save Chidambaram!

TN Government's HR&CE (Hindu Religion and Charitable Endowment) Board has decided to take over the administration of Chidambaram temple. This decision has raised various emotions and responses from devotees throughout the world. 

The reasons ascribed are mismanagement of Chidambaram temple, and misappropriation of funds.

Please note that, in the Great Bharath, also known as India, only pseudo secularism rules. Government shamelessly controls most of the Hindu temples. I am not sure why they cannot interfere with the operations of other religious institutions.

Chidambaram temple, of Sri Nataraja is run by Dikshitars, also known as 'Tillai Vaazh Anthanar'. When Sri Patanjali and Sri Vygrapadhar worshipped Sri Nataraja intensely, they were rewarded with the vision of Sri Nataraja in Chidambaram. So, they decided to create a temple there, and installed a statue of Sri Nataraja there.

Unlike other temples, Sri Patanjali codified a set of rules to be followed in worshipping Sri Nataraja in this temple. He got 1000 Brahmin Saints (Sahasra Muneeshwaram) from Kasi, and they alone were given authority to offer worship to this Shiva.

When Sri Mahaperiavar Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswati Mahaswamigal, visited Chidambaram, even he stayed off the last five steps (called Panchakshara Padi) since he felt only Dikshitars have the right to perform rituals in Chidambaram temple. When a Saint of such a great stature refused to ascend the last five steps to Sri Nataraja, it is quite evident that the rules codified by Sri Patanjali are not meant to be relaxed any time.

I request all brothers and sisters of the world to protest against this - It is the question of honor among Hindus, and people in general where mindless politicians feel they can run over the sentiments of millions of others with scant respect.
